At the heart of Ramahyuck’s primary health care services are the Gippsland Family Medical Practice in Sale and the Nindedana Quaranook Gippsland Aboriginal Health Service in Morwell.

Our clinical services have recently been expanded to include: GP Consultation, Cardiac Health, ECG’s, Asthma, Spirometry, Family and Child Health, Health Assessments, Health Promotion, Audiology, Pathology, Physiotherapy, Podiatry, Diabetes Assessments, Men’s Health, Women’s Health, Youth Clinic, Sexual & Reproductive Health, Immunisations & Flu vaccines, Optometry, and Occupational Therapy.

In addition, we work with a range of visiting specialists in the areas of optometry, podiatry, maternal and child health, counselling, psychiatric services, diabetes education, asthma education, and community health.
The Gippsland Family Medical Practice, named in honour of the late Noel Yarram, has been providing GP services to the Indigenous community since 1992.

Open 5 days per week including extended evening hours, the clinic currently provides services to more than 1400 clients and in 2006-07 achieved full accreditation against the RACGP Standards (3rd Edition).

Other key outcomes include:

  • increased patient attendance in 2006-07 to 9,467 client contacts to date
  • improved response to the needs of the youth in our local community through the continuing success of the Youth Clinic in collaboration with the Kilmany Uniting Care and Central Gippsland Health Services
  • increased access for our Koori clients through the ongoing provision of medical transport. This service also ensures coordinated support for appointments with other health care providers
  • strengthened management and administration of clinical services through the addition of the new position of Practice Manager

In 2007-08 and beyond, we plan to expand our clinical services to include additional GP sessions, full coverage and implementation of health assessments, a fully operational audiology service, establishment of a dental clinic, and the set up of a physiotherapy and rehabilitation centre.
